The anticipated strong wind gusts subsided just enough on Saturday morning to allow the 400+ participants of the Panicking Poultry 5k in Boulder, CO to enjoy a fast race at the Boulder Reservoir. The top 3 male finishers all came in sub-16:00 minutes, with winner Charles Hillig clocking an impressive 4:59/mile pace and finishing in 15:26. Second and third place male finishers Horsecow Hurd and Jonathan Huie came in at 15:37 and 15:55, respectively. In the women’s race, Kathy Butler took the win in 18:10, with second place finisher Kristen Nichols coming in at 18:22. In third place, 2011 Denver Marathon women’s winner Heather Utrata crossed the finish line in 18:32. The festivities didn’t stop with the 5k though, as kids took part in a free 1 mile race and 5k finishers took part in post-race party including delicious breakfast burritos, hot drinks and a multitude of vendors.
