Four state USATF state championship races are back in Colorado this year, along with the Inaugural USATF Grand Prix in an exciting effort to unify the Colorado running community. Our state has been a mecca and home of Olympians, World Champions, road, long distance and ultra runners since the 1980s, yet the number of races supporting Colorado runners is limited.

USATF Colorado is partnering with four quality events spread throughout the state which will offer an interesting, exciting, fair competition and certified distance. We hope that our Colorado elite athletes will be mentors and an inspiration for future Olympians . In behalf of USATF CO, we support the engagement of adults and youth from all walks of life to fitness and a healthy life style.

Race distances range from 5 to 25km and from flat and fast to mountainous trails.  Prize money totaling over $12,000 will be awarded to top open and masters finishers*. As an added incentive to enjoy the variety of events and abilities, all USATF Colorado members participating in at least three of the four races receive a commemorative running jacket, regardless of their placement.

The four USATF Colorado State Championship races constituting the Grand Prix are:

June 26 -  Stadium Stampede 5k Come to Denver’s INVESCO Field for the 27th edition of this fast and popular event.

August 7 -  Evergreen Town Race 10k The blazing fast course has become the place to show up fit for a personal best.

August 21  – Heart & Sole Half Marathon Run the famous dirt roads of the Boulder Reservoir in the third edition of this increasingly popular race.

September 18 -  Lead King Loop 25k Enjoy the stunning fall mountain views while running the dirt roads and trails surrounding Marble.

*Entrants must be 2011 USATF Colorado Association members and Colorado residents to be eligible for prize money, state championship awards and the Grand Prix jackets. Prize money at each race will be awarded to first three eligible open finishers and top master(M/F). Become a USATF Colorado member

USATF recognizes the hard work of race directors in producing excellent races, and applauds the efforts of these RD’s:

Denver Stadium Stampede 5K – Marie Adamson
The Evergreen Town Race 10k – John Wells
Boulder Heart and Sole Half ½ marathon – Henry Guzman
