Fruita’s annual Sweetheart Run, presented by the City of Fruita and Health West was held on February 12. The race offers a sweetheart (combined scores) and singles category for a 5k and 10k race.
The Sweetheart 10k was won by Jeff Amans and partner, in a combined time of 47:24. Rudy Vasquez and partner won the 5k in a combined time of 20:46.

In the 10k race, thirty-nine year old Marty Wacker won the men’s overall race in 34:34. Bernie Boettcher, 48, was the master’s mens leader while 42 year old Jill Whinnery was the overall and masters champion in the women’s race.
The 5k champions were Andrew Petroski and Suzy Steel.
