BoldRunning , the official training program of the BolderBOULDER 10K, will be offering a new training program that will operate all winter long in an effort to keep runners motivated over the cold and dark nights.

The 12 week program will start on November 8th and finish at the end of January, covering the three essential months of fall and winter. The aim is to “provide a support network of fellow runners and coaches to meet up with as the light starts to fade. Training with others is the ultimate motivation mechanism and helps you to stay accountable.” Say’s Ewen North, Director of the BoldRunning program.

Many otherwise well-intentioned runners tend to shy away from winter training for obvious reasons. But the advice from experts is to keep your training going over the winter, as the most important training phase to build up base mileage and fitness.

According to North, “the best way to start training for a successful BolderBOULDER is now. May 2011 might seem like a long way off but March will be here before you know it. Putting in the base and maintenance work throughout the holiday and winter season will pay off with huge dividends in 6 months.”
The new program will provide runners with a maintenance schedule designed to keep runners “fit without over doing it,” say’s North. The program also offers trainee’s the chance to test fitness at many local 5K’s or at the 3M Half Marathon in Austin Texas, on January 30th.
